Electrical Hardware Design Engineer

We are looking for a talented Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work on a broad range of telecommunications products, collaborating with a multi-site team to design and support both new and legacy products used by Carrier and Enterprise customers worldwide.

We are looking for an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to join our team, working on a diverse range of telecommunications products. In this role, you will collaborate with a cross-functional team of hardware engineers across multiple sites to design and support an extensive portfolio of both new and legacy products used by Carrier and Enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical hardware for telecommunications equipment, primarily focusing on printed circuit boards (PCBs), with potential involvement in electro-mechanical components, cables, and OEM system and chassis solutions.
  • Design, document, and test both prototype and production-level designs.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers, manufacturing teams, product management, and other key stakeholders to ensure timely product delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Provide ongoing support for production hardware, assisting customer service teams (installation, deployment, technical support, repair), manufacturing, and testing teams. Identify and recommend solutions to production issues through redesigns, component substitutions, and other methods.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5 Days a week on-site in our Morrisville, NC Office
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of telecommunications principles and standards, including TDM and IP switching systems, embedded processor systems, real-time computing, and digital/analog telecom and networking interfaces.
  • Proficient with test and debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and telecom traffic/signal analyzers.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively achieve objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Proven experience in working within multi-disciplinary, geographically distributed teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Tools & Software:

  • PCB Design: Cadence Concept/Orcad/Allegro
  • FPGA Development: Verilog, VHDL, vendor-specific tools
  • PDM: Oracle Agile
  • Office Suite: Microsoft Office 365
