Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Administrative Coordinator for the Office for Research. The Administrative Coordinator, reports to the Vice President of Research Administration and the RA executive leadership team, serves as a critical support position for the department. The position will support the confidential administrative needs of the Vice President, Assistant VPs and Executive Directors in Research Administration, plan and coordinate the department's events and provide office administration including extensive calendaring, drafting of correspondence and travel arrangements.
The Office for Research's mission is to support the research, scholarship, and creative endeavors of all Rutgers faculty. The Office accomplishes its mission by convening with academic and research leaders, providing integrated, user-focused resources, services, and tools, and partnering with faculty.
The key duties of this position are the following:
- Maintains effective knowledge of all relevant resources and services available within the university.
- Acts as liaison and maintains collaborative relationships with Rutgers central administration, university staff and administrators.
- Works under direct supervision, with specific instructions on routine or semi routine work and within established work parameters for the unit.
- Performs professional work that requires knowledge of general administrative/office management practices and the basic application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of unit administration.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- A bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices.
- A minimum of two years relevant experience in an administrative function.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Must be a self-starter, detail- and solutions-oriented, an effective communicator both in writing and verbally and possess excellent organization skills.
- Keen focus on detail, excellent organization and coordination skills and an ownership mindset.
- Must have experience handling multiple competing priorities with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have a working knowledge Microsoft Outlook and the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
