Job Description

The University of Missouri - Columbia (MU) and The Sinclair School of Nursing invites application and nominations for the inaugural holder of the Verna Adwell Rhodes Endowed Chair in Nursing, within the Sinclair School of Nursing. This prestigious position will be filled at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate for this endowed chair will be a research leader with a passion for interprofessional collaboration and the grit to address the world's most pressing research challenges.

Dr. Verna Rhodes, a former Professor in the Sinclair School of Nursing was a pioneer in oncology nursing research and is known as the "mother of oncology nursing symptom management and assessment." Her work led to the development of 3 oncology assessment tools that are used in 23 countries around the world.

The University of Missouri's Sinclair School of Nursing boasts a new $30 million state-of-the-art facility (completed in August 2022) featuring a high-fidelity and immersive simulation center, advanced interactive classrooms, clinical skills and assessment labs and a dedicated research and innovation suite. The new facility will help bridge the academic partnership between our students, teaching and research faculty and MU Health Care. This enhanced learning environment has helped students excel with the highest average undergraduate GPA at MU, above-average certification pass rates for APRNs, and a near-perfect (98-100%) job placement rate shortly after graduation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for this role:

* PhD in Nursing or a related discipline.

Additional criteria the candidates will be evaluated upon:
* Excellence in an area of nursing research
* A track-record of continuing extramural funding through grants and contracts and a promising trajectory to lead programs and obtain further funding.
* Excellence in clinical or classroom teaching with a passion for training students and post doctoral fellows
* Potential for active stewardship for the Sinclair School of Nursing and University of Missouri
* Applicants must have established an extramurally funded research program with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications and national/international recognition

Other Information

This position is a 12-month faculty appointment. We anticipate this appointment will be made as early as January, 2026 or another agreed upon date.
