Postdoctoral Associate

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)

* Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Health Sciences or a closely related field.

* Experience studying and measuring exercise, physical activity, balance performance, and sensory functioning in adults with or without pathology.

* Experience with fall prevention programs.

* Experience working with large research databases.

* Mastery of Excel & Statistical software packages like (STATA, SPSS, MatLab and/or R).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Strong publication history (3 or more 1^st author papers).

* Experience writing internal or external grant applications.

* History of attending and presenting at scientific conferences.

* Interested in learning how to collect, analyze and interpret quantitative gait, multisensory integration, and electrophysiological measurements.

* Experience working with our older adult participants.

Brief Description of Job Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist Principal Investigator Dr. Joe Verghese, in the department of Neurology, Division of Cognitive and Sensorimotor Aging (DCSA). The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.

* Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze data collection

* Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals

* Internal/external grant application submissions

* Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed

* Other duties assigned, which may include attending various Scientific Conferences and meetings
