The 911 Communications Supervisor position is a professional staff position within the Police Department working in our 911 Communications Section working out of our Public Safety Administration Building located on the Peoria City Hall Campus. This position will work a base weekly shift that will be forty hours but is subject to overtime to assist with shift vacancies. 911 Communications Supervisors bid alongside the 911 Dispatchers every six (6) months and bid for their shift according to seniority. This position performs the following tasks:

• Oversees the daily operations of the 911 Communications Center, ensuring efficient call handling and dispatching of police services
• Lead and mentor a team of Dispatchers, providing training, guidance, and support to maintain high performance and morale
• Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures, as well as local, state and federal guidelines (ACJIS/NCIC/NENA) related to emergency communications
• Additional duties as assigned

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation with at least three (3) years experience in a 911 dispatching role. The ideal candidate would have proven ability to lead, mentor/motivate a team in a high-stress environment through experience and related training. Adaptability to frequently changing tasks, balancing multiple priorities and maintaining clear communication are critical skills. The ideal candidate is able to effectively manage time and resources to accomplish set annual goals and objectives. This candidate has strong critical thinking and decision making skills. This candidate is able to collaborate as a unit and has demonstrated experience building positive relationships. The ideal candidate has a passion for law enforcement and making a positive impact on the community, as well as a commitment to teamwork and delivering excellent customer service.

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

• Minimum of three years public safety call-taker/dispatcher related experience. Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Terminal Operator Certification (TOC) within six months of hire.
• Full Police Background and polygraph required
