We're actively seeking a talented Director & Actuary to join our Life & Annuities Experience Studies team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE. This role can be on-site or hybrid.
As a Director & Actuary, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by leading a team of actuaries and data scientists as well as enhancing our predictive analytics capabilities throughout the product life cycle. You will be directly managing a small number of individuals on the Annuity Policyholder Behavior Experience Studies team within the Consumer Market Division (CMD) Product Development department.
How you will make an impact:
Lead the development and execution of annuity policyholder behavior experience studies, incorporating predictive analytics, AI, and machine learning. Build strong relationships with key areas (Modeling, Valuation, Risk, MRM etc.) to set assumptions that can be successfully implemented. Oversee assumption governance process and understand downstream impacts to Pricing, Valuation, Reinsurance, ALM, etc. Engage downstream users throughout testing and implementation phases to ensure consistency across model applications. Coordinate internal and external audits along with LDTI reporting deliverables. Run Assumption Working Group meetings, aligning stakeholders on updates and coordinating with cross-functional teams. Explain complex concepts clearly and effectively to senior leaders in order to secure approval. Direct the creation of dashboards at the right granularity to report key insights and emerging trends. Implement process improvements, automation, and efficiencies where applicable. Work with external consultants to validate assumptions and benchmark against competitors. Provide leadership and effective coaching to develop a team of actuaries. Foster collaboration and effectively communicate project updates and risks.
The experience you will bring:
FSA designation. Excellent written/verbal communication and leadership skills. Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to various audiences, including senior management. Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills. Experience in mentoring and developing team members.
What will make you stand out:
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields. Proven experience in managing annuity experience studies and developing predictive models. Ability to prioritize projects and balance multiple timelines effectively. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and assumption audits. Experience working with large data sets and data visualization software (e.g. Tableau).

The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
