Job Description

  • Provide technical and programmatic support to COMNAVSURFLANT and COMNAVSURFPAC Type Commander (TYCOM) staffs.
  • Assist with development, scheduling, planning, and tracking of surface ship depot-level maintenance and modernization work.
  • Monitor and document depot-level availability schedule changes and root causes of schedule extensions.
  • Track and maintain planning and execution milestones for depot-level availabilities.
  • Support shipboard event execution, including readiness assessments, maintenance availabilities, and inspections.
  • Monitor maintenance funding controls and requirements during depot-level planning.
  • Assist in drafting reports and naval messages for stakeholder communication.
  • Support Fleet alteration planning and execution, including cost and schedule monitoring.
  • Track Mandatory Technical Requirements (MTRs) and prepare deferral letters as needed.
  • Review cost estimates for repairs and alterations, including Business Case Analyses (BCAs).
  • Conduct depot-level availability duration studies and provide analysis reports.
  • Participate in planning meetings, conferences, and stakeholder events.
  • Prepare After Action Reports (AARs) and document key decisions.
  • Monitor depot-level planning processes to ensure required maintenance is scheduled and completed.
  • Analyze and track completion of Class Advisories and Fleet Advisories.
  • Develop and deliver briefs, presentations, and planning updates.
  • Prepare lock letters for availability work package execution.
  • Perform additional duties related to CNO Surface Ship Availabilities as required.

Job Requirements

Experience:



  • Minimum 15 years' experience with DoD/Navy program management, Industry or Government technical management, or Industry or Government business management.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in/with Surface, Submarine, or Aircraft Carrier maintenance and modernization planning and execution.


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in related field, or 10 of minimum 15 years of experience was gained because of in-depth experience and specialized knowledge in the related field.
  • NOTE: "Related Field" includes: marine engineering, maintenance management, industrial engineering, or other maritime-related field.


Other Requirements:



  • Shall work at TYCOM facilities as AWPM.
