Summary

Position Summary:

Operates a variety of NC and conventional machines, deburr, hand tools and inspection equipment used in the manufacturing of machined components.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operates all equipment to perform any operation within the machine cell.
  • Capable of maintaining the process to make conforming parts. Includes changing cutting inserts/taps/stones/wheels etc., making process corrections and offsets as required
  • Assists in machine set-up as required.
  • Works from blueprints, sketches, manufacturing outline sheets, program sheets and shop orders.
  • Capable of using small hand tools and precision measuring instruments as required.
  • Maintains a level of production based on TAKT time and report out using KPI board
  • Any other related tasks as assigned

  • Must be capable of operating and adjusting NC and conventional machines
  • Able to use machinist's hand tools and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Able to apply shop mathematics and have a working knowledge of machine shop and metal removal practices.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Able to recognize process anomalies and make adjustments accordingly
  • Must have knowledge of machining speeds and feeds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctual.
  • Organized.

  • High level of accuracy.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Customer service driven.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks.

Education, Experiences, Certificates/Licenses and/or Registrations:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.

  • High school diploma or GED or 15+ years of practical experience in machining
  • Vocational training and 7+ years of practical machining experience
  • Preferred GD&T certified

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods and stand to perform work. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull or move up to fifty (50) pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

  1. Occasionally required to lift up to 30 lbs.
  2. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
  3. Safety glasses, shop coat/apron, proper shoes.
  4. Occasional exposure to shop element such as noise, dust, odors and fumes.

Typical Materials, Tools and Equipment Used:

Materials worked on: Ferrous and non-ferrous metals in various forms; bar, tube, plate, casings, forgings, etc.

Tools used: Machinist's hand tools, depth, dial and plug gages, and precision measuring instruments as precision blocks, sine plate, micrometers, calipers, indicators, dial bores and air gaging equipment, hand tools, etc.

Equipment used: NC and conventional machines, attachments and all related accessories.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $39.47/hr.- $43.00/hr.
