Job Summary: The shipping and receiving technician is responsible for receipt of materials and products, packing and shipment of materials and product in a cost effective and orderly manner to eliminate lost sales, re-shipments, and damaged goods.
Responsibilities: * Receive and physically place material in designated receiving location (bin). Assign bin location and note on Receiving Document and update Item Master. Transfer from receiving inventory location to assigned bin location. Receive material by: Description, Quantity, Line Item Number and Condition. Supervisor must be notified immediately of any damaged goods and/or incorrect quantities. * Sign off on material line item of Purchase Order as transfer functions are completed. Signature on material line items of the Purchase Order will confirm execution of receiving inspection. Forward completed, signed Purchase Orders to date entry in a timely manner, or when skill levels permit, enter data into the system. Forward Receiving Inspection Reports and MTR's to supervisor and save on network. * Get quotes for freight. Schedule trucks for pick up through 3PL TMS. Scan all shipping and receiving documents and save on the network. Notify sales person of any discrepancies between actual inventory and sales order item(s). Notify Purchasing Department of any discrepancy between material items received and Purchase Order entries * Daily cycle counts. Maintain Bin location move transactions. Notify supervisor if items are damaged and/or shortages. * Pull parts for sales orders and subcontractor material releases. Prepare, package and mark material for shipment in accordance with information on Sales Orders. Operate forklift or cranes to move materials about the warehouse. Load, unload and move products and materials by hand, or by using basic material handling equipment. Perform other material handling activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking material * Disposal of packing materials (crates, pallets, shrink wrap, etc.) generated from the receiving process as well as assist in the disposal of other waste generated by production processes as required
Requirements: * High School Diploma, or equivalent. * 2+ Years of Shipping, Receiving or Warehouse experience
Core Competencies: * Understand shop practices and safety regulations applicable to work * Be analytical, flexible, team-oriented, have good interpersonal, communication and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail
Preferences: * SAP experience, Computer experience * Ability to operate a fork truck and overhead crane * Ability to interpret, comprehend and write English
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements * This position will be based in Houston, Texas, with no travel.
