Description

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining aircraft to ensure operational readiness and compliance with military standards. Duties include washing, rinsing, and detailing aircraft surfaces, inspecting for cleanliness, and adhering to safety and environmental protocols. Supports aviation maintenance teams by preserving aircraft integrity and appearance.

Job Details / Position Summary:



  • Washes and rinses the aircraft and/or components.
  • Perform pre/post wash lubrication procedures.
  • Installs and removes protective covers.
  • Moves aircraft utilizing towing equipment.
  • Must be familiar with normal operational safety requirements, working on and around aircraft and ground support equipment.
  • Must be capable of comprehending written and oral instructions for the use of aircraft cleaning equipment.
  • Extreme care required when washing aircraft and/or components to prevent unnecessary damage to painted surfaces.
  • Must have a valid state operator's license and be able to pass the government licensing requirement.


Major Job Activities:



  • Washes and rinses external and internal surface of aircraft and aircraft components to remove grease, dirt, oil, fungus and stains.
  • Prepares aircraft for washing by ensuring vent areas are taped and all protective covers are in place.
  • Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control programs.
  • Operates ground support equipment.
  • Operates portable firefighting equipment.
  • Polishes and cleans windshields and canopies with water, polishing and cleansing compounds and cloth.
  • Assists in the movement of aircraft scheduled for 7 or 14 day inspections Performs pre/post wash lubrication and procedures.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work center.
  • Complies with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility and job assignment.
  • Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.
  • Assist when directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.
  • Performs other related duties.


Working Environment:



  • The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc.
  • May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.


Physical Activities:



  • Climbing, standing stooping, bending pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions.
  • May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds.


Qualifications:



  • Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

    • Must have a valid state operator's license and be able to pass the government licensing requirement.
    • Must meet any other qualification standard imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.
    • Hazardous Materials Certification
    • Aircraft Towing Certification
    • GSE Licensing
    • Physical (every 5 years as required by NAVAIR 3710.1E)


  • Experience:

    • Three (3) months aviation maintenance and/or flight line experience preferred.

  • The following salary range is intended to display the current per hour rate for this job.


    • USD $22.97.
