Senior Attorney

Provides legal counsel and business advice to the company and its subsidiaries to ensure its effective operation in accordance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for review, drafting, negotiating and approval of miscellaneous operating contracts, agreements and processes. Includes but is not limited to Sales requests, non-compete agreements, daily questions and situations.
  • Performs research and investigations. Drafts and submits documents concerning legal issues to maintain compliance with various regulations and to ensure minimum exposure to risk.
  • Provides legal review, business advice and direction on vendor agreements. Examples include but are not limited to temperature validation (TVAL), IT hardware and software, Marketing. Ensure customer needs are met, and FedEx's legal exposure is limited. Provide legal review, business advice and direction on all carrier, customer and sales contracts.
  • Legal review of Branding/Marketing information. Reviews and approves press releases, literature and printed materials.
  • Participates in the planning phase of various company products, services and projects and assists in plotting a course of action, which balances the company's goals with legal and business considerations.
  • Reviews company policies and procedures and provide legal advice as to their execution and compliance with applicable laws. Participates in business development teams, providing legal guidance and strategy input.
  • Collaborates with management to devise efficient compliance and defense strategies.
  • Performs complex research and investigations and designs, drafts, and submits documents concerning legal issues to maintain compliance with various laws and regulations; provides legal interpretation of laws and regulations. Drafts and reviews legal documents and reviews proposed transactions to ensure maximum benefit to the corporation and minimum exposure to risk.
  • Communicates and negotiates with external parties, such as government authorities and counsel for third parties.
  • Renders assistance and counsel to all divisions and departments on the meaning and application of the company's policies and procedures and on other legal matters to ensure compliance with applicable law and consistency with other policies in terms of company philosophy and goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate Degree required
  • Registered member of a state Bar required
