Position Summary
Primary Purpose of Position The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus

The Director provides comprehensive leadership and effective collaboration with institutional leaders to support the administration of the WCU Code of Student Conduct. The Director supports Student Conduct in advancing accountability and opportunity for learning and growth in response to allegations of misconduct. The Director of Student Conduct serves as a member of the Division of Student Affairs Leadership Team and is an integral part of the Dean of Students Unit leadership, maintaining cross-campus collaborations for student success.

The Director is responsible for overseeing the Office of Student Conduct, including supervision of the Associate Director, Assistant Director, Administrative Support Staff, and other department staff. The Director also investigates and adjudicates conduct cases.

The Director is responsible for departmental compliance with applicable state & federal laws, UNC System policies and regulations, and WCU policies, and assesses the impact of the conduct process on student success consistent with the WCU Strategic Plan. The Director will also assist in emergency situations and participate in campus-wide events as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship from the employer.
  • At least three to five years of conduct adjudication or related experience in a comparable field.
  • Master's degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education Administration or Juris Doctorate degree or similar credential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Maxient or related conduct management software.
  • 5 years of experience in student conduct or a combination of related duties.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while handling a demanding workload.
  • Strong leadership, administrative, planning and presentation skills, including oral and written communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain neutral and offer equitable access and due process for all students.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state statutory, regulatory, and legal developments related to conduct issues in higher education.
