Summary
Specializes in the diagnosis and study of diseases by examining tissues, cells, and bodily fluids. Responsible for identifying abnormalities that aid in diagnosing diseases and managing treatment. This role operates independently under both direct and indirect supervision, performing technical and clerical tasks essential for the efficient functioning of the laboratory and morgue.

Essential Functions
Examines tissues, cells, and bodily fluids to diagnose diseases and conditions.
Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss diagnoses and treatment options.
Provides expert advice and consultation to healthcare professionals and patients regarding test results and treatment options.
Assists with lab maintenance, including cleaning, restocking, and specimen discarding.
Performs autopsy service duties, including ensuring all procedures are followed in the autopsy suite and morgue, identifying patients, and assisting with external exams.
Accurately triages and accessions all specimens.

Education
Associate's Degree Related Field of Study required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials

Experience
Experience within Anatomic Pathology lab 0-1 year preferred

- Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation, tools and procedures specific to assigned area, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving issues and conflict.
- Must have to ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.
