Summary of Job Duties:Histotechnicians execute histologic techniques to patient specimens in order to facilitate pathological diagnoses. Activities related to this position are heavily rooted in processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, coverslipping, and troubleshooting issues within the lab. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with HT (ASCP) certification or eligible, OR 60 semester hours with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology AND chemistry, OR an associate degree with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry within or in addition to associate degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year (12 consecutive months) of full-time clinical experience in histopathology laboratory within the last five years OR 1 year (12 consecutive months) of full time veterinary, industry or research experience in histopathology laboratory.

  • Certified as HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP)

Full dedication to patient care, fellow coworkers, other professionals, a safe work environment and this position are also key. Working closely with other team members to meet high standards of patient care is expected for this position. Histological testing will be conducted on a wide variety of specimens ranging from biopsies to large organs and limbs of the human anatomy. The position requires excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills.
