Wet Lab Chemist Employment Type: Contract Yoh is looking for a Wet Lab Chemist to come and join our east bay area therapeutics client with their inhaled medical device. This role has a broad scope that covers developing new formulations for use in the inhaler, developing assays to detect aerosol drug content, conducting performance testing on the inhaler itself, and performing small scale preclinical and clinical batch production of inhalers for animal and human studies. This Chemist will have significant autonomy in their role as the leader of all wet-lab related development and testing

Responsibilities
- Developing aqueous drug formulations - small molecule, peptides, and proteins
- Testing formulations for pH, viscosity, surface tension, solubility, stability, etc.
- Testing performance of the inhaler with drug formulations, including emitted dose testing, aerosolization rate testing, and particle size testing.
- Operating aerosol laboratory equipment such as a Next Generation Impactor (NGI) and Sympatec Helos KR
- Operating standard laboratory equipment, such as a UV Spectrophotometer, Ph Probe, Viscometer, Tensiometer, Biosafety Cabinet, HPLC, etc.
- Developing plate reader and HPLC assays to quantify aerosol drug content
- Developing analytical methods and procedures for laboratory testing
- Performing small scale production of drug product formulation and inhalers under cGMP compliance for preclinical and human clinical trials
Requirements:
- Operated HPLCs and various analytical equipment.
- Plate reader
- Next Generation Impactor for emitted dose measurements
- Laser diffraction particle sizing instrument (Sympatec Helos)
- Osmometer, tensiometer, viscometer, pH meter, and other normal lab equipment
- Experienced in characterizing drug profiles.
- Proficiency in lab procedures, cleanliness, and PPE.
- Pharmaceutical Company (1.5 years)
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry (1-2 years of work experience post-college.)
- Startup culture requiring high work ethic and adaptability.
- Ability to work autonomously and handle multiple tasks.
- A plus would be experience with inhaled medicines (aerosols).
