Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for an Instructional Design Associate to be based out of Harvey, Il requiring up to 25% domestic travel. Reporting to the Operations Training Program Manager, this person will be responsible for developing hourly training and qualification materials in alignment with Atkore's Frontline Worker Qualification Program. This person will support more experienced Instructional Design personnel to create and maintain instructional content, photographs, and technical illustrations, to effectively communicate complex and technical information.

What you'll do:

The ideal candidate will have 0-2 years' experience as a Technical Writer or Technical Trainer with experience developing technical documentation used to train hourly production employees. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a requirement.

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Develop and maintain work instructions and other training materials.
  • Maintain style guides and templates to ensure uniformity and quality in all program documentation.
  • Assist Instructional Design Specialist in conducting job analyses to study manufacturing processes either in an office or production\logistics environment.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, tracking progress and deadlines to ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain updated curriculum and training records through the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Help drive the annual training material review and maintenance process.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant technical field or Instructional Technology, or Organizational Development required.
  • 0-2 years of experience as a technical writer or communications.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of day in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft 360, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Excellent writing, grammar, proofreading and editing skills along with strong verbal communication skills.

      Within 3 months, you'll:



      • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program.
      • Complete required EH&S, Lean and Frontline Worker Qualification program training.



      Within 6 months, you'll:



      • Align work priorities with Atkore's strategic direction.
      • Support Instructional Design Specialist in job analysis and content creation.
      • Manage monthly program status metrics.



      Within 12 months, you'll:



      • Manage content migration into LMS.
      • Track document maturity and manage annual review process.

      As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $54,720 - $75,240. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
