Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Strategic Management, the Scheduling and Capacity Planner plays a critical role in ensuring the manufacturing facility operates at optimal efficiency. This role combines detailed scheduling analysis with comprehensive capacity planning to forecast production needs, manage resource allocation, and identify operational improvements. Working both independently and collaboratively on moderately complex projects, this role plans, measures, and monitors plant capacity while developing and maintaining schedules to align with cross-departmental objectives. This position will be based in Darien, WI.

Key Responsibilities:

Scheduling Analysis & Coordination



  • Schedule Development & Maintenance:

    • Develop and maintain detailed schedules using Excel and specialized scheduling software
    • Continuously update schedules to reflect real-time changes, delays, and new production demands


  • Cross-Department Collaboration:

    • Coordinate with production, engineering, supply chain, quality assurance, service, and project management teams to ensure schedule alignment
    • Work with internal stakeholders such as sales to understand current and forecasted production plans


  • Progress Monitoring:

    • Track daily production progress against established schedules, proactively addressing discrepancies and conflicts
    • Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior management based on schedule performance




Capacity Planning & Analysis



  • Operating Limits & Forecasting:

    • Plan, measure, and monitor the operating limits and capacities of the organization
    • Forecast and plan capacity requirements to ensure alignment with department/unit goals
    • Determine variances between production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand


  • Issue Identification & Resolution:

    • Identify and troubleshoot production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity
    • Recommend process and equipment improvements to optimize production capabilities


  • Data-Driven Insights:

    • Utilize manufacturing data and reports to drive key insights into efficiency, production rates, and performance metrics
    • Produce comprehensive reports evaluating plant capacity and identifying areas for improvement




Reporting & Continuous Improvement



  • Create dashboards and regular performance reports that evaluate both capacity and scheduling effectiveness
  • Present actionable insights and recommendations to optimize overall operational efficiency
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance production capabilities and streamline processes


Qualifications

Requirements:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field


Experience:



  • Typically requires 4-7 years of related experience in capacity planning, production planning, or scheduling within a manufacturing environment


Technical Skills:



  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel) and familiarity with capacity planning and scheduling software (e.g., Epicor, Microsoft Project)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and generate actionable insights


Soft Skills:



  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
