About the Job

At JLL, we are driving sustainability through everything that we do, across all service lines and job positions. Specifically, we are growing our Sustainability practice to drive end-to-end sustainability solutions in real estate, from site selection to decommissioning.

As a member of the JLL Sustainable Operations team, you will support coordination of the implementation of the energy and sustainability strategy, including waste and water management, and supporting processes, programs, targets, reports, and projects to achieve scope of work delivery and goals.

This position requires periodic in-office presence and may include some travel.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide support to sustainability team, specific to energy, water and waste program goals, collaborating with team members as needed
  • Able to quantify impact of policy and project impact relative to these issues
  • Responsible for aggregation of energy, waste, and water projects, results, and initiatives
  • Coordinate alignment in the use of technology, vendors, and programs to streamline program deployment
  • Vet the deployment of sustainability initiatives impacting sustainability, energy, waste, and water management
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to determine upstream opportunities for energy, waste, and water reduction
  • Develop policies and procedures for energy and water reduction and reuse from real estate projects and operations
  • Improve upon processes and procedures for energy, waste, and water data collection and monitoring to support data analytics. Ensure adherence and on-going tracking of results
  • Monitors financial performance of all sustainability initiatives. Work with team to track and improve performance with proactive use of data
  • Responsible for vetting and supporting innovative strategies including xeriscaping, water and energy conservation
  • Research and stay current on industry trends and related regulatory issues to enhance the program, educate and train teams of associates and subcontractors
  • Support with tracking energy and sustainability projects and supporting vendor management
  • Optimize relationships with utility, municipal, and technology partners to improve performance and reduce program costs
  • Accountable for achieving client sustainability goals(energy, waste, and water reduction)
  • Interface with external industry associations, regulatory agencies, and other partners
  • Ensure programs developed follow all contracts, laws, rules, and regulations governing program activities at local, state, and national level
  • Travel locally across portfolio to support program requirements and initiatives
  • Establish strong working relationships with workstreams to deliver against KPI targets
  • Effectively network cross-functionally to collaborate with other JLL service lines on the account (technology, finance, projects, IFM, consultants, and procurement) to elevate the sustainability mission and objectives, and drive implementation where most organic within the business
  • With cross-functional view, effectively manage changes in partnership with stakeholders, which have the potential to impact water program objectives
  • Ensure success stories are tracked and communicated to ensure a high level of awareness and engagement is achieved with regard to the overall sustainability program and client's success
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking and proactive management in bringing new ideas and solutions to the services delivery, and ensure they are rolled out effectively
  • Provide SME input and own program components (e.g., content development, maintenance) related to SME area

  • University degree, demonstrating subject matter expertise (e.g., Sustainability related degree; Environmental Engineer, etc.)
  • 5 plus years' experience in the sustainable operations and/or engineering of commercial buildings, with experience leading water program(s)
  • Strong operations experience in large multi-dimensional organization with focus on operations management, productivity, or engineering excellence and embody a bias for action
  • Strong data management experience
  • Strong experience in energy and sustainability management & automation systems and metering
  • Building Controls experience or knowledge is a plus
  • Passionate about working towards a sustainable future
  • An excellent understanding of the key sustainability issues for corporate occupiers of real estate including, but not limited to: decarbonization, embodied carbon, circularity, resource preservation, biodiversity, climate risk, health & wellbeing, and social value creation
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with corporate clients, commercial property, property managers and an understanding of the landlord and tenant relationship is desirable
  • Excellent ability to build relationships with clients and their internal teams
  • Proven project management experience and excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in written and numeric work
  • Ability to obtain buy-in and engagement from employees at all levels
