Summary The Supplier Industrial Electrician will install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in a manufacturing environment. This individual will have the ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and specifications in order to provide troubleshooting and repair services. The Supplier Industrial Electrician will also routinely perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and components in order to ensure the continued safe, efficient and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization. Traveling is required to fulfill these job responsibilities and overall company goals and objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. These duties are required to be completed at Sonac sites as well as at Sonac suppliers' sites.
- Install, test, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and equipment.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, electrical code specifications and schematics in order to effectively troubleshoot, maintain and repair equipment.
- Diagnose, locate the cause of, and repair malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment.
- Direct and train other workers and apprentices to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, provincial and federal safety regulations, codes and specifications.
- Ensures proper completion of preventive maintenance requirements as directed by Management, work order instructions, manufacturer instructions and technical manuals. Assists the Maintenance Management staff to develop and improve current preventive maintenance instructions and practices. Perform preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment and components.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with all directives, procedures, rules, and regulations related to personal safety, manufacturing practices and protection of the products. Offers suggestions on improving GMP related activities, when issues are identified.
- Properly completes maintenance records as required to document the maintenance process. These include, but are not limited to: Work Orders, Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Entry Permits, Clean Tags, High Care Intervention forms, Parts order Log, and Inventory use sheets. Uses computerized records to document maintenance activities.
- Assists maintenance management staff in maintaining adequate spare equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing requests for needed equipment and identifying and up-channeling shortages, when noted.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), AND
- Minimum two to three years related experience, OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Must demonstrate ability to work in high stress environment
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to travel regionally (~25%-50%) for overnight stays and maintain valid travel documents such as a driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing environment experience with liquid products preferred.
- Ability to manage time effectively, work independently and display solid follow up techniques.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional problem solving & organizational skills; works proactively, able to multi-task.
- Proficient computer skills.

Work Environment Job functions will be carried out in a manufacturing environment; the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
