What You'll Do

IronArch Technology under the High-Performance Computing Modernization Program Integrated Technical Services Contract II (HITS-U II) directly supports the DoD's High-Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) mission. We deliver world-class commercial, high-end, high-performance computational capabilities to the Department of Defense's (DoD's) Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) community at the DoD Supercomputing Resource Centers (DSRCs).

We are seeking an Applications Analyst or Programming Analyst to support the Army Research Lab (ARL) DSRC located at the Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland. The selected Analyst will provide a high degree of technical support and professionalism to the research communities of the ARL DSRC. This includes, but is not limited to, helping researchers debug code, suggest areas of optimization within code, and job submission procedures to successfully meet their High-Performance Computing (HPC) research requirements. Assist researchers by troubleshooting technical issues, addressing complaints, and responding to requests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex computational technical problems related to computer hardware and software.
  • Utilize a wide variety of skills and software tools for computing on large-scale systems, including scripting and automation, network distributed services, storage and backup, and software problem diagnosis and resolution.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and support computer software (COTS, GOTS, and open source).
  • Support network environments and software upgrades in accordance with specifications, performing testing as required.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including configuration changes, as needed.
  • Assist in the implementation of new technology on Supercomputers, HPC Clusters, and infrastructure machines used to maintain the clusters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field with 8 years of experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux Operating Systems, preferably in a large-scale environment (100+ servers) such as Cray, IBM, or HPE.
  • Experience with high-performance storage and clustered file systems (e.g., GPFS, Lustre).
  • Knowledge of HPC scheduling software such as SLURM, PBS, LSF, or Condor.
  • Knowledge of HPC parallel libraries (MPI, OpenMP).
  • Experience with high-performance computer interconnects (e.g., 10 and 40 Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand).
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Bash, Csh, or Ksh.
  • Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field with 4 years of experience.
  • Some knowledge of archival storage.
  • Some knowledge of GPGPUs.
  • Ability to perform benchmarks for both cluster hardware and software performance.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) frameworks.
  • Experience with Singularity.
  • Fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C, Fortran, Python, PERL).
