ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:



  • For Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles: Additional compensation is available through either an Incentive and/or Commission Plan.
  • For Employees who reside in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and California: Additional compensation is offered through a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA)



Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Vice President of Sales & Marketing to join our team! In this role, you will lead all aspects of sales, marketing and business development, crafting strategies to enhance market competitiveness, pricing and revenue growth in the U.S. and select international markets. You'll work closely with internal teams, Shimadzu Corporation, distributors, and partners to achieve annual sales goals and expand market share. By identifying market trends, setting clear quotas and fostering strong relationships, you'll guide SSI toward sustained success. This role also involves leading and inspiring high-performing teams, building cross-departmental cooperation, and adapting job functions as needed to ensure equal opportunities for all employees, making it a pivotal position in driving Shimadzu's mission forward.

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Sales:



  • Develop and implement short and long-term sales and business development strategies for Shimadzu product lines.
  • Drive the sales function by creating national and international business plans to achieve annual revenue goals.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance against targets.
  • Nurture key customer, distributor and partner relationships while expanding the customer base.
  • Develop competitive pricing policies, discounts, and terms and conditions.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing sales team through recruitment, training, compensation and performance management.
  • Implement training programs, including succession planning and provide coaching and mentorship to sales managers.
  • Manage departmental budgets and expenses.
  • Represent Sales and Marketing on the SSI Executive Committee.
  • Define sales territories, set regional quotas and establish sales offices.
  • Oversee sales compensation, commission and incentive programs.
  • Maintain accountability for demo inventory.
  • Partner with the VP of Service on service contracts and customer support.
  • Research, select and implement sales and marketing technology solutions.



Marketing:



  • Develop and implement short and long-term marketing and business development strategies for Shimadzu product lines.
  • Monitor and analyze marketing performance against goals.
  • Identify and pursue new product opportunities and market trends.
  • Evaluate new products for market fit and develop launch strategies.
  • Develop expertise in market needs and future trends within the industry.
  • Build and maintain relationships with third-party partners.
  • Analyze SSI's performance against competitors.
  • Advise Shimadzu Corporation on U.S. market trends and competition.
  • Build and manage a high-performing marketing team.
  • Implement training programs and succession planning and provide coaching and support to marketing managers.
  • Represent Marketing on the SSI Executive Committee.
  • Partner with with Marketing Communications on lead generation programs, application notes and technical marketing materials.
  • Research, select and implement marketing technology solutions.



EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business-related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in sales and/or marketing in the analytical instrumentation industry
  • OR at least 4 years of demonstrated success in an executive leadership role (VP level or equivalent), with a strong ability to drive revenue growth, achieve strategic objectives, and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful sales and marketing strategies.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster a results-oriented, team-driven environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Compensation & Benefits:

This full-time, exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays and 3 paid floating holidays (Residents of California and Puerto Rico will receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days). After one year of employment, you will also be eligible for a generous short-term disability program with the company covering 100% of monthly premiums.

The starting base salary range for this role is $205,000 to $210,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. Additional variable compensation includes commissions paid each pay period and an executive bonus plan paid twice a year for an estimated total compensation range of 325K - 375K. A year-end discretionary bonus may also be awarded based on overall company performance.
