We are seeking a dynamic an experienced HR Generalist to support our HR leaders in delivering high-quality HR services across the organization. This role will be a key resource to support our HR strategies with a focus on the operational and tactical aspects of HR, ensuring smooth execution of day-to-day processes. The role will balance operational efficiency with proactive problem-solving to support a smooth-running HR department that helps drive organizational success

This role will support key HR initiatives/special projects in the areas of compensation, performance management, HRIS, affirmative action plan development, learning and development, talent management and succession planning, employee and labor relations. The position will report to the head of HR for the Performance Chemicals business segment and will be a key member of the Ingevity HR team. This role will provide thoughtful employee/labor relations support, including investigations, employee engagement initiatives, policy interpretation and application, and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal labor laws.

What you need to succeed:

  • Minimum 2 years of HR Generalist or Business Partner experience in a manufacturing company required. Experience working in a plant manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field required
  • Ability to engage others to build trusting relationships with employees and managers throughout the organization
  • Provide advice and counsel to managers and employees. Serve as a primary contact for employee relations
  • Experience in resolving employee conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Support the development of employees and teams. Assist in identifying programs and tools to improve development areas
  • Strong understanding of and ability to ensure compliance with local, state and federal labor laws
  • Working knowledge of HRIS tools and payroll systems, employment laws, benefits, HR principles
  • Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to deliver effective training and development that reinforces change and development of skills
  • The Human Resources Generalist must be a self-starter with attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, and complete activities accurately and on time
  • Proven track record as an HR partner and strategist with strong leadership, accountability and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel up to 15% domestically
  • This position will be on-site at Ingevity's North Charleston Headquarters.
  • This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
