How you make a difference in this role:
The Communications & Marketing Coordinator is an exciting internship opportunity within the People Operations Division in the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS). This position offers hands-on experience in internal communications, employee engagement, and recruitment marketing.
Your role will help ensure that nearly 4,000 TDHS employees receive timely and engaging information about training requirements, HR processes, and professional development opportunities. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will also create dynamic content to aid recruitment efforts. You will help tell our employees' stories and the work they do to strengthen Tennesseans. This position reports to the People Operations Communications and Marketing Manager and will help support our HR and Learning and Organizational Development teams.
Overview:
- Assist with social media content including video creation related to employee engagement and recruitment.
- Write and solicit content for weekly announcements, monthly newsletters, and other communication channels. Focus on content creation to creatively tell employee stories.
- Edit and produce content for external webpages related to recruitment and intranet to promote information from Human Resources and Learning and Organizational Development teams.
- Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of current internal communications and information flow. Research communication trends and employee engagement strategies, providing insights and recommendations to improve current practices.
- Help update and maintain a comprehensive content calendar to ensure timely and relevant communication of People Operations procedures, trainings, and events.
- Ensure that all communications and marketing materials align with the companys brand guidelines and voice.
- Engage in team meetings, collaborate on communications strategies, and provide support for various remote and in-person events.
- Create flyers, graphics and other material for events and programs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a rising undergraduate junior or senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university. Candidate must provide unofficial transcript from college or university.
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Can work at least 20 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate proficiency in using Microsoft Office products and Canva. Familiarity with Adobe Suite, photography and video creation is a plus.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms and content creation.
- Creative thinker with the ability to generate and execute innovative ideas.
- Great organizational skills with attention to detail. Has the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to time-sensitive communication needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the willingness to work within a team and the ability to be self-motivated for project completion.
