General Purpose of Job:

The Registered Echo Technician is responsible for patient care performing 2D-M-Mode and Doppler echocardiograms, Stress Echoes and Dobutamine Stress Echoes. He/She will fulfill the objective(s) as put forth by the TCI Division of Sparrow Hospital.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

• Verifies patient identity prior to the examination, reviews the patient chart and history form, ease patient apprehension by thoroughly explaining the procedure and answering questions.
• Performs 2D-M-Mode and Doppler echocardiograms, Stress Echos and Dobutamine Stress Echos.
• Completes all documentation in the GEMMS system.
• Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, recognizes significant cardiac conditions which require immediate intervention.
• Continuing education for Echo Technologists
• Establish and maintain communications between the lab and physicians, TCI-SPR departments
• Projects as assigned
