Purchasing Manager

We are looking for an inspiring and motivated Purchasing Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of the Purchasing organization by monitoring costs, overseeing staff in the timely ordering of material and services, and expediting product to achieve company goals.



In this role, you would typically:

  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and vendors;
  • Implement systems to monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements as well as provide performance feedback to suppliers and vendors;
  • Lead and direct the entire material operation to include material quotes, purchase order placement, and expediting of product to ensure business unit goals are met;
  • Review the status of open requisitions and follow up with staff to ensure timely process of purchasing orders, support weekly production/spares meetings to determine possible delivery issues and to take preventative actions;
  • Communicate daily with Business Units to strategize production requirements


We require:


  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Operations, Business Administration or related field
  • 5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory management and/or production control in a manufacturing environment which includes supervising staff and responsibility for ERP/MRP systems;
  • Authorization to work in the US



Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.

  • An excellent communicator - ensure effective upward and downward communication so that important information is disseminated;
  • APICS certification



Physical Requirements Include:



  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work.
  • Ability to interact and participate in meetings.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for a significant period and maneuver around the facility as needed.
  • Manual dexterity, which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse and write are required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
