V2X is growing! We have an opportunity for a collaborative Hardware Engineer III to join our Engineering team in Colorado Springs, CO supporting the COBRA DANE (CD) program.

The CD radar sensor is a ground-based, computer-driven, L-band phased array radar located at Eareckson Air Station (AS) (EAS) on Shemya, Alaska (AK). It has two missions, one being Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (MD) and the other, Space Situational Awareness (SSA). Operational control for the CD radar sensor is under the United States Strategic Command and supported by the United States Space Force (USSF). This Program delivers world class Operations, Maintenance and Support (OM&S) and Depot and Sustainment (D&S) for the CD phased array radar. V2X's experience in support of CD and other large/sophisticated high power radar systems provides the high technological capability, foundation, and infrastructure required, along with the corporate resources to deliver continuous successful CD mission performance.

As a Hardware Engineer III, you will be responsible for supporting critical legacy radar subsystems and line replaceable units (LRU) including re-design, development, integration, test, and defect resolution. This position requires diligence to complete long-term tasking, and the agility to react to unanticipated, high-priority tasking, all while meeting critical deadlines with minimal supervision. The Hardware Engineer II will work with a multi-disciplined team on installation projects, system troubleshooting, and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortage (DMSMS) efforts.

The Hardware Engineer III will assist with the deinstallation and installation events for CD's new transmitter groups and RF amplifiers. The ideal candidate will have prior installation experience and a willingness to travel to the radar multiple times a year for new equipment install events. The Hardware Engineer II will have strong communication skills and embraces modern development processes and techniques that improve product quality and team productivity.

Required Skills:



  • Desire to learn and maintain understanding of the COBRA DANE System and Subsystems
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and competency of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and VISIO)
  • Willingness to support domestic travel (CONUS & Remote Alaska)
  • Self-starter, who works well in teams and works well independently
  • Robust attention to detail, organization skills, and self-accountability
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance
  • US Citizenship Required


Desired Skills:



  • System level hardware and facilities equipment installation, integration, and problem solving
  • Experience with electronic test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers, Multimeters, Function Generators, etc.)
  • Experience with obsolescence mitigation
  • Understanding of Military and Industrial standards governing hardware design, selection, qualification, characteristics, etc., including MIL STD 31000B and ASME Y14.100
  • Experience with Radar Systems and Radar System Theory (High Voltage Power Supplies, High Power Radio Frequency (RF), Signal Processing and ancillary equipment)
  • Experience with root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with working with Bill of Materials (BOMs), material procurement processes and MIL-STD-295
  • Current DoD Secret clearance


Educational Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degree and 2 years of related work experience
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree may be considered (e.g., associate's degree in electrical engineering technology or similar

    Salary Range: 90,000k - 110,000k
