What You Do.
- Reporting to the Director - Category Management, this person will serve as an industry leader within category management, applying sound understanding of current and emerging syndicated and shopper insight platforms to uncover avenues to drive sustainable growth.
- Serve as the primary category management expert for select regional accounts, collaborating with field-based sales team.
- Working throughout the division, you will leverage insights and multiple data sources to ensure category strategies influence actions that will drive category growth.
- Proactively develop and manage national and key account category and consumer insights, driving key brand strategies and generating best in class insights in a way that influences business strategies and tactics.
- Proactively create best practices by identifying opportunities and recommending new methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Assist in facilitating sharing across the organization - HQ and Field Sales, Marketing, Insights and sales agencies.
- Be a leader in developing strong analytical competencies and fact-based selling skills through training, implementation of analytical tools and executing training which convert value-added insights into selling propositions.
- Leverage your story-telling abilities along with data, insights, and shopper intelligence to influence long-term category management plans for National and the retailer's objectives, align category strategies, and drive sales.
- Focused project work as assigned by the Director - Category Management.
- Responsible for analyzing customer-specific information, including syndicated data, internal Sargento data, and retailer data (POS, loyalty, etc.) to measure category and brand effectiveness.
- Provide recommendations for improving customer category and brand growth and profitability.
- Partner with sales agency dedicated Category and Space Manager to effectively leverage their insights, tools and data.
- Support sales-focused projects by aligning business objectives with study design, managing execution, and developing and communicating actionable recommendations.
- Cultivate multiple internal and external relationships across customers and within Sargento and our agency resources to elevate category management.
- Must be able to travel - projected to be up to 20-25% of the time.
Your Education and Experience.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
- Five plus years CPG industry experience.
- Prior category captaincy or advisory experience required.
- Proficiency in Luminate, Nielsen, and/or Circana databases required.
- Experience with Shopper card data and insights are strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
