Job SummaryThe Director of Marketing position is a pivotal role within the company as it is responsible for managing the commercial success of the assigned product portfolios in the U.S. The Director of Marketing plays a general management role with the goal of ensuring that revenue and gross profit are maximized for his/her assigned products or services.
This position requires active collaboration with multiple Fresenius Kabi business functions both inside and outside of the market unit (MU), including product development, regulatory, project management, manufacturing, supply chain, business analytics, contract marketing, customer service, sales, market access and national accounts. The employee must be able to successfully facilitate and complete projects in a "dotted line" environment. The employee must be able to lead and manage others, the ability to prioritize issues, deal with ambiguity and manage conflicting deadlines. The employee must be proficient at managing multiple and diverse responsibilities simultaneously, as well as the ability to take on high level business initiatives as they arise.
Salary Range: $175,000 - $190,000
Position is eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan with a target of 16% of the base salary. Position is also eligible to participate in our medium-term incentive plan.
Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Responsibilities
- Owner of P&L for assigned product portfolios.
- Manage team of Marketing/Product manager(s).
- Develop and master an understanding of assigned product portfolio including current and future market trends, products, and competitors.
- Actively champion products throughout entire lifecycle (feasibility, development, commercialization, and post-commercialization) to ensure customer requirements are met and target sales and gross profit objectives are achieved.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of pipeline products and their characteristics and requirements, such as patent/legal complexities, competitive landscape, manufacturing challenges, pricing and market dynamics, barriers to entry.
- Create and own go-to-market strategies for new product launches and line extensions. Lead the commercial launch execution including the development of brand positioning, pricing & market access strategy, and product forecasting. Support the Sales team via training and tools.
- Conduct continuous surveillance of the environmental landscape in order to assess and make recommendations of future product needs to help achieve business goals. Define market research needs and works with Director of Market Research to design research studies to inform customer requirements and product development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align forecasting goals between the Market Unit (MU) and the Production Unit (PU)/Business Unit (BU). Work with internal/external manufacturing, supply chain, and customer service to ensure accurate and timely forecasting for new and existing products. Includes monthly analysis of key variances and market drivers to help improve forecast accuracy.
- Actively work with business analytics team in regular forecasting cycles to derive market and product assumptions. Develop a thorough understanding of key product performance metrics including sales variances and contract compliance opportunities.
- Develop and execute pricing & market access strategies to help maximize portfolio sales and gross profit. Serve as a resource and partner in the various sales channels such as acute/specialty distributors, wholesalers, and group purchasing organizations. Work with national accounts, trade relations, business analytics, market access and contract marketing.
- Work in collaboration with Business Unit (BU) Portfolio Team and Business Development to make go/no go recommendations on new pipeline candidates as well as assess the market potential for creative line extensions that augment our competitive advantage.
- Support the Market Unit (MU) and Business Unit (BU) in the annual strategic plan process by assessing the competitive landscape, channel opportunities, and platform initiatives.
- Identify and resolve emerging issues that may impact project, department or corporate goals. Recognize potential threats to success and elevate issues to senior management. Propose solutions, resolve conflicts within cross functional teams when possible and make recommendations for process improvements.
- Play a leadership role in the labeling redesign and branding initiatives for the pharmaceutical business.
- Participates in any and all reasonable work activities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required (Advanced degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 10 years' related work experience, 5+ years of which are required to have been in the healthcare industry.
- Experience in generic pharmaceuticals and/or other hospital products a plus.
- Comfortable knowledge in the following areas: marketing, sales, contracting, commercial finance (FP&A), business development, marketing communications and project/portfolio management.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail required.
- Effective communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Superior interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to manage direct reports and cross-functional teams.
- Aptitude to drive results in a matrix organization and influence others without direct management authority.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
- Preference will be given to candidates that hold an effective understanding of the prefilled syringe market, Anesthesia profession and Operating Room environment, and have experience with FDA-regulated products.
- Ability to work effectively with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.
