Adjunct Assistant Professor Position for a Cinematography Course for the USC SCA Summer Program

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is located in the heart of downtown L.A. and is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. The USC's School of Cinematic Arts Summer Program is seeking applicants for a faculty position at the Adjunct Assistant Professor level to teach a Cinematography course, covering such topics as the fundamentals of cinematic photography, lighting, composition, shot selection, camera movement, coloring, and current technology. This position is for the SCA Summer Program starting in June 2025.

USC reserves the "Adjunct" appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year but, in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the Dean.

Qualified candidates must be a working professional with strong experience working as a cinematographer for short and feature-length films and/or television series. Candidates should be currently engaged in the entertainment industry and possess first-hand knowledge as a cinematographer on shorts, features, and/or television series. Demonstrated skills in cinematic photography is critical. Previous teaching experience is preferred. Please submit a CV including all professional credits and a link to a recent film project.

MinimumEducation:BA or BFA degree from an accredited university in a related field

Minimum Experience:4 years of professional experience photographing shorts, features, and/or TV series.

Preferred Education: MFA degree from an accredited university in a related field

Preferred Experience:8 years of professional experience as a cinematographer of shorts, features, and/or TV series for major studios.Demonstrated teaching experience, ideally at the college level.

The hourly rate range for this position is $38.50 -$100.50 per hour. This is a 25% FTE adjunct position.
