DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Pondfield Division oversees a significant signage presence across its extensive trail systems. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining these signs by constructing new ones and installing them along the trail network. Additionally, you will clear roads, trails, and boundary lines of brush and fallen trees using brush cutters and chainsaws, as well as install and maintain culverts, headwalls, and tail walls on both roads and trails. During winter, you will be tasked with plowing and shoveling snow, while in summer, you will mow grass and handle weed-whacking duties. Other responsibilities include cleaning restrooms, collecting trash and debris, and responding to wildfires or other emergencies, either as a firefighter, single resource, or in a support role. You will also perform basic maintenance on vehicles and machinery and assist with various aspects of facility and infrastructure upkeep, including light carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment without benefits.
    • The season runs from approximately March until November at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday for the first three weeks, and 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Thursday during the fourth week. Your workday includes a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime: May be required during fire season.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Hourly rate: In some cases, the starting hourly rate may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position will require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:
