About the Department
Campus Enterprises is NC State University's division of retail and hospitality organizations - NC State Dining, NC State Stores, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State Student Centers (Witherspoon and Talley), and the One Card Office. Each department is dedicated to providing service excellence, value and enrichment of the student experience in support of academic success.

The Lonnie Poole Golf Course is a University/Public course that is open year-round. It is an 18-hole, 7,400 yard course. This is an Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course and is designed to promote sustainability and to fit into the ecology of the natural environment. The golf course is also registered in the Audubon International Signature Program at the Silver Level.

Essential Job Duties
Duties include assisting in the area of grounds keeping at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course: landscaping, sodding, applying fertilizer and pesticides on and around the course, cutting grass on fairways, roughs, fringes and greens, ornamental and turf pest control, golf course upkeep, sprinkler system maintenance, fencing, and tree trimming.

  • Understand the goals and culture of the organization, and understand how employees' work activities, teamwork, and customer service impact clients. Work with your supervisor and colleagues to understand these goals and the culture.
  • Adhere to all University policies, procedures, and regulations, and Division standard operating practices and protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure Lonnie Poole Golf Course business needs are met.
  • Duties in other locations may be assigned by management to utilize knowledge and skills during peak or slow periods, or when emergency situations occur in other areas.

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
High school or General Educational Development ( GED) diploma and possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications: North Carolina Pesticide License may be required and can be obtained within six months of employment; North Carolina Commercial Driver's License may be required.
Other Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities and assignments according to work schedule
  • Working knowledge and applicability of tools, methods, and materials used in golf course and ground maintenance
  • Operational knowledge of equipment used: walking and riding mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, rollers, bunker rakes, carts, push mowers, and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. frequently, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time in outside conditions, and perform strenuous physical labor
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Excellent punctuality and reliability
