The Heinz College consists of two schools, the School of Public Policy and Management and the School of Information Systems and Management, and offers an academic experience unlike any other. The Heinz College prepares students with a unique ability to conduct a careful and objective analysis of meaningful data, to understand and demonstrate the power of information technology, and to lead and implement change in managerial and policy contexts.

We are seeking an Assistant Director of Career Services. You will contribute to the department by providing support through career development counseling and advising to Heinz College graduate students and alumni.

Primary duties will entail:

  • Helping to facilitate the smooth functioning of the Career Services office at Heinz College, you will lead and participate in process improvement efforts to meet demands during peak times to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Assisting the Associate Director of Employer Relations with identifying and soliciting employers to increase employment opportunities for students

  • Collaborating with the Career Services team in coordinating workshops and career-related activities and events

  • Advising and mentoring students on job/internship searches and professional development

  • Maintaining detailed, confidential student records and using proper judgment when sharing sensitive or confidential information

  • Supporting team with data management and outcome reporting for assigned programs/students

You should demonstrate:

  • Proven high level of customer service orientation

  • Ability to develop and work well in a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Proficiency at prioritizing projects and meeting target dates, maintaining accurate and detailed records, and maintaining strict confidentiality over all information

  • Sharp decision-making skills and accurate assessment of alumni and student potential to make sound recommendations for job search strategies

  • Strong familiarity or willingness to learn and use various computer and database programs, such as Handshake, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and various internal database systems to query employment data

  • Able to travel domestically to support student programming and other various alumni events

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree is required

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

  • Minimum of one to three years of related experience in student services or customer/employer-facing roles such as career services, student counseling, student programming in a university setting, recruitment, or employer relations

  • Knowledge of employment markets, hiring trends, and marketing methods.

  • Experience developing potential employer contacts a plus.
