Summary

Under the direction of the Program Director and Hospital Leadership, the Administrative Resident will develop necessary skills that are essential to a health care manager and serve as a vital period of learning between graduate studies and the Administrative Fellowship position. LVHN's Administrative Residency is designed to provide an educational environment that will contribute to the professional growth and development of the Resident. The Administrative Residency program is designed to allow the resident the opportunity to integrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities learned in the classroom and apply them in a practical work setting through various projects. The resident will primarily be working with members of the organization who are at the department head level. The Administrative Residency offers the resident a distinct opportunity to improve upon and develop their portfolio of skills in healthcare management while working in a stimulating learning organization.

Job Duties

  • The resident will participate in ongoing departmental projects, which will aid in the retention of core competencies, and is encouraged to participate in other tasks, meetings, and projects outside of their assigned projects
  • The resident will work with all major departments on long-term and short-term projects that will emphasize LVHN's growth and commitment to the community. These projects can be focused on the organization as a whole or be department specific
  • An opportunity for the inexperienced manager to cultivate competencies in financial management, human resources, clinical services, information services, strategic planning, marketing and general management
  • The resident will complete all projects within a reasonable and/or expected timeframe.
  • The Resident will participate in a structured orientation that will allow him/her to meet with the numerous LVHN managers and senior administrators. These meetings will familiarize the resident with the organizational dynamics, structure, and resources and also serve as an opportunity to discuss potential projects and identify personal interests.
  • To gain a working knowledge of the organization at the operational level from working with and for individuals having management responsibility primarily at the Department Head Level of the organization

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree, or will receive their Master's Degree upon completion of the residency in healthcare administration, business administration, or public health, from a CAHME or AUPHA accredited program.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
