Summary

Responsible for ensuring the quality of the geo-spatial data in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Distribution\Transmission Inventory Management SQL Database. Also, responsible for organizing and maintaining GIS electric database connectivity models in support of GP&L business procedures, mapping and field inventory activities.

Pay Range: $ 26.04 - 33.29 (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with the integrity and maintenance of the GIS SQL Database by ensuring accurate geometric connectivity, asset attribute data, as well as installing and retiring assets in GIS software.

  • Edit and update the Electric Department's geographic information system by processing WFM work packets, engineering packets, transmission packets and ad hoc data updates.

  • Assist in maintaining Electric Department GIS ArcFM electrical geometric network model environment.

  • Ensure geometric network is functional, intact & proper QAQC standards.

  • Assist in creating, updating & maintaining GIS department's catalog of digital and paper copy maps produced in various formats

  • Assist with GIS file record maintenance and archival procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in GIS Program 2 years of work experience in office environment

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Associate's degree

  • GIS Certification

  • 6 months to 1 year experience in related field

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Create, edit, and maintain GIS data. Includes data collection, input, processing and linkages to various departments

  • Exposure to and working with geospatial database environments Working knowledge of core ArcGIS desktop software

  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS online environment

  • Working knowledge of ArcFM software

  • Working knowledge of electric geometric networks

  • Working knowledge of best practices for GPS'ing

  • Working knowledge of map and design projections

  • General knowledge of construction standards, practices and procedures

  • Knowledge\Exposure to Electrical Theory & Principles

  • Proficient communication skill verbally and in writing

  • Proficient skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)

  • Working knowledge of large format plotters and scanners

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Class C Texas driver's license
