Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation, is seeking a Senior Manager, Foundation Relations, to be a key player in our fundraising efforts, directly managing a portfolio of foundation and nonprofit supporters and prospects. In this role, the Senior Manager, Foundation Relations will be instrumental in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with private foundations, public charities, community foundations, and nonprofit organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work to increase revenues and participate in all aspects of the gift cycle including, but not limited to:

  • Supporting the Director of Foundation Relations with generating revenue, including, pipeline management, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Managing an existing portfolio of foundation supporters with measurable outcome and building and maintaining relationships with new supporters.

  • Researching new foundation prospects and engaging Conquer Cancer divisions as needed to review for possible connections.

  • Contacting current and prospective foundation supporters through phone, email, and face-to-face visits to initiate introductions and gift solicitations.

  • Assisting in preparing solicitation materials, proposals, and agreements.

  • Developing donor meeting briefings for Conquer Cancer and ASCO leadership for donor meetings and site visits as needed.

  • Managing the writing/submission of letters of inquiry and compelling, comprehensive proposals while monitoring and adhering to deadlines.

  • Managing the grant reporting process for supporters, including submission of interim and final reports on grants.

  • Provide support for Director of Foundation Relations in meeting and proposal preparation and follow-through.

  • Track all donor data and maintain accurate and timely records/contact reports of interactions with foundations and non-profit supporters and prospects using the fundraising database and shared drive

  • Under the direction of the Director of Foundation Relations, assist in developing and monitoring the Foundation Relations annual and longer-term revenue plan and annual budget.

  • Collaborate with Development Services in creating and implementing an effective stewardship plan.

  • Foster collaboration with other Conquer Cancer and ASCO divisions toward achieving foundation revenue goals

  • Other related duties, as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent years of experience

  • 6 - 7 years of progressively responsible foundation fundraising experience; including significant experience in writing foundation grant proposals and reports.

  • A demonstrated track record as a successful fundraiser, relationship-builder, proven professional and collaborator

  • Proven experience in closing five and six-figure grants/gifts from the foundation sector (private foundations, public charities, community foundations, and non-profit organizations)

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to establish rapport and cultivate relationships with new and existing donors.

  • Proven ability to develop relationships with a goal of increasing gift and grant income from foundations.

  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to discuss ASCO initiatives with prospective foundation funders.

  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.

  • Excellent proposal development and writing skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and multi-task.

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

  • Ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make decisions with sound judgment.

  • Ability to work effectively with donor volunteers and internal leaders with prompt follow through on tasks and action items.

  • Ability to clearly and professionally communicate and convey information in different ways to ensure that it's understood.

ADA/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Fast-paced office environment with extended periods seated or standing at a desk.

High use of computer and other office technology equipment.

TRAVEL

5 - 10 days/yr

If remote, 2 - 4 HQ visits per year
