POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Analyst, Risk Management position reports to the Senior Director, Risk Management, and is responsible for aiding in the administration of Sony's insurance programs. The position involves evaluating insurance related data to assist department personnel in the establishment of global insurance programs, claims administration, premium budgets and policy administration.

The position interfaces mostly with financial and legal senior management internally and insurance brokers and insurance carriers externally to determine and evaluate each company's risk exposure. In addition, the position works with the Senior Director, Risk Management, to develop innovative solutions and strategies, as well as implement, manage, and monitor insurance and self-insurance programs.

This position will be on a Hybrid schedule with 2 days per week in the NYC office.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Risk Management team, Legal department, insurance brokers and insurance carriers to develop the appropriate program structure, strategy, and coverage terms that meet the needs of Sony's operations and emerging risks.

  • Prepare market submissions, including the gathering, organizing, and analyzing of exposure data, and provide to insurance brokers to obtain renewal proposals.

  • Create and present, in conjunction with the Risk Management team, underwriter presentations to showcase Sony's operations, strategic direction, emerging risks and answer questions from the insurance markets.

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual corporate insurance budget for each respective Sony Group companies. Present the budgets to Controllers and/or CFOs, advising them on the conditions that affect overall program costs. Obtain approval for the annual insurance budget.

  • Coordinate analysis of exposures with actuaries, brokers, and underwriters for their coverage evaluation and placement options.

  • Review insurance program specifications and quotations for accuracy and completeness. Assist in the negotiations with the insurance broker and underwriters to obtain the most competitive structure, pricing, terms and conditions.

  • Present recommendations and obtain approval from the respective Sony Group Companies' senior management, including Controllers and/or General Counsel, on the strategy, program structure, and results of negotiations with the insurance market.

  • Review contracts for various events, products, services, leases, associated business activities, IT (Information Technology), etc. and provide recommendations to assure reasonable insurance requirements are addressed.

  • Perform due diligence on various types of transactions (mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and/or other types). Develop strategy and provide recommendations on insurance integration and confirm coverage upon deal closing.

  • Monitor progress of insurance carriers' claim administration. Secure information from Sony business units to assist in concluding claims with insurers as quickly as possible.

  • Responsible for coordinating, analyzing and compiling data relative to insurance audits (i.e., workers' compensation, general liability).

  • Review insurance carrier and insurance broker invoices and process for payment.

  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective premium allocation system for the Sony business units.

  • Maintain comprehensive and complete schedules of insurance.

  • Review all insurance carrier property/casualty loss control recommendations. Discuss with appropriate department personnel any items that need department intervention.

  • Review insurance policies for completeness and accuracy. Follow-up when needed to obtain policies and endorsements.

  • Assist in the development and distribution of various Management Information Reports to all participating companies to inform and educate as to their individual and group results regarding claims, premium allocation and general insurance program information.

  • Maintain a strong relationship and open communication with each Sony Group company to ensure that they are aware of risk management policies and procedures.

  • Visit facilities to review operations, advise management of applicable insurance programs and/or review insurance company safety/loss prevention recommendations.

  • List the required educational background as well as related work experience needed to perform this job effectively. Include required certifications, licenses and/or registrations.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

Your qualifications and experience should include:

  • Minimum seven (7) years related risk management and/or insurance/brokerage experience and/or training.

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university.

  • ARM, CPCU and/or Property & Casualty Broker License preferred.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and follow through on multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.

  • Solid understanding of insurance and risk management principles.

  • Working knowledge of various computer software (Word, Excel and Power Point) with ability to create reports.

  • Team oriented.

  • Minimal travel.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $115,000 to $125,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
