We're actively seeking a talented Governance and Reporting Service Lead to join our Operational Risk & Resilience team in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site or hybrid. As a Governance and Reporting Service Lead, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by overseeing, maintaining, and maturing Pacific Life's operational risk management programs and framework. This position requires a deep understanding of risk management principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead and work collaboratively within the team and with various departments to ensure the effective definition and implementation of risk management practices. You will fill an existing role that sits on a large team in the Operational Risk & Resilience department, which is a subset of Enterprise Risk Management. Your colleagues will include Service Owners, Service Managers, Service Leads, and Capability Leads within 3 teams: GRC, Operations, and Engineering as supported by OR&R Service Leads who function as liaisons to the 1st line of defense. How you will make an impact:
Own, maintain, and mature risk management foundational components including risk taxonomy, business process universe, risk rating matrices, and risk registers in alignment with Pacific Life's risk management framework, policies, and strategy Lead governance over risk management policies, standards, guidelines, and controls for multiple risk programs such as operational, cybersecurity, IT, third party, data management, portfolio/program/project, and others Partner with OR&R leads and the 1st line of defense to ensure risk management policies, standards, and controls are effectively communicated and understood. Integrate feedback, as applicable, to ensure that such documents align to, and support the business while adhering to the spirit and intent of the underlying authoritative sources Collaborate with executive stakeholders to establish risk appetite statements for key operational risks and define Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to measure operational within risk appetite Lead and oversee comprehensive risk assessments for different subject areas such as top risks, emerging risks, specific regulations, new products, projects, and business processes. Such assessments will involve identifying inherent risks, compensating controls, and residual risk, including development of risk mitigation strategies and action plans Source diverse risk data and analytics to identify trends, aggregations and concentrations, to generate compelling actionable risk reports and analytic dashboards to risk committees, executive management and stakeholders Demonstrate subject matter expertise by taking the initiative to proactively engage in ongoing research on industry trends, participate in forums and working groups, maintain knowledge on current industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to operational risk programs
The experience you will bring:
10+ years experience in operational risk management, cybersecurity risk management, IT risk management, or enterprise risk management, preferably within the financial services industry Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, or a related field Working knowledge of industry frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, COBIT 2019, ISO 27001/2, and regulations such as NYDFS 23 NYCRR 500, and HIPAA Experience authoring and maintaining enterprise level policies, standards and controls, setting risk appetite, developing and reporting Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and preparing dashboards and reports for executive management Hands-on experience conducting risk assessments including top risks, emerging risks, and Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with a focus on accuracy and quality Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and as part of a team

Base Pay Range: The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
