HJF is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist II (SLP) to provide speech and language services in the evaluation, treatment, consultation and management of patients. This role will implement individualized cognitive rehabilitation plans in accordance with Institutional Research Board protocol. The SLP will provide support for a study evaluating a brief, intensive, individualized treatment that trains automatic use of cognitive strategies tailored to patients' everyday cognitive challenges, to maximize maintenance of gains and provide tools for service members or veterans to manage future challenges. The treatment will be evaluated to determine its effectiveness in decreasing everyday cognitive complaints among patients with a history of mTBI and persistent cognitive symptoms. Responsibilities include attending training and meetings, maintaining treatment fidelity in accordance with the research protocol, and documenting session data.

This position will be in support of the Desmond Doss Health Clinic, Schofield Barracks, a clinic of Tripler Army Medical Center, located in Honolulu, HI.

Responsibilities

  • Attends training for delivering study treatment.
  • Implements an individualized cognitive rehabilitation program in accordance with Institutional Research Board protocol.
  • Conducts follow up assessments after initial treatment.
  • Documents treatment session data.
  • Works with other research team members to communicate study scheduling and data transfer procedures.
  • Attends regular study meetings.
  • May contribute to publications, such as manuscript, abstracts, posters, presentations.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree (MA, MS, MCD) in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong Knowledge of Speech and Language Development, Assessment tools, and therapeutic techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of providers and study team members.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust Background Check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $64,200-$90,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
