The Loss Mitigation Specialist will be responsible for in-depth research and analysis of high-risk or delinquent accounts and populations to identify opportunities to resolve bad debt, coordinate refunds and hardship relief programs, and develop strategic initiatives to minimize losses for the Proceed Finance program. The Loss Mitigation Specialist will work closely with leadership, agency management, and strategic partners to ensure all collections and recovery opportunities are identified and capitalized upon to minimize losses to the portfolio.

This position is full time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 425 Fallbrook Boulevard, Lincoln, NE 68521.

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be based on scheduled or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities



  • Research high-risk populations of accounts and collaborate with partners to take action to contact and resolve delinquencies
  • Assist in direct communication with providers and borrowers through phone and digital channels
  • Research pending complaints and refund cases and coordinate with stakeholders to expedite them to resolution
  • Assist in the oversight and support of the collections and recovery processes
  • Develop and maintain processes for monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing the collections agency and strategy performance
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop, drive, and implement collections continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:



  • High School diploma/GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1+ year of experience working in either consumer compliance or customer service roles, preferably in the financial services industry or related field
  • 1+ year of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal and external business clients
  • Ability to work any shift between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm



Preferrred Qualifications:



  • Ability to navigate and leverage CRM systems (preferably Zoho) to research accounts
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote) or related software
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry preferred

The salary range for this role is $59,500 to $116,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
