DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will undertake technical responsibilities related to the creation and execution of solutions addressing traffic control issues, including speed restrictions, passing zones, accident analysis, and assessments of traffic patterns. Your role will involve ongoing evaluations of traffic routes during both daytime and nighttime to pinpoint safety issues. You will engage in various activities such as conducting traffic studies, counting vehicles, reviewing signage, and assessing pavement markings. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing Highway Occupancy Permit (HOP) applications and evaluating traffic signals to ensure compliance and safety.

Your contributions will be essential in enhancing traffic management and safety measures, ultimately leading to improved roadway conditions. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving traffic-related challenges through thorough analysis and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Indiana.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as an Engineering Technician; or
  • Three years of experience performing transportation engineering technical assignments, such as traffic control data collection, highway sign surveys, traffic signal inspection, materials sampling, testing, or inspection, construction inspection, bridge inspection, survey work, utility relocation, roadway programs management, or roadway materials control; and graduation from high school; or
  • One year of experience performing transportation engineering technical assignments, such as traffic control data collection, highway sign surveys, traffic signal inspection, materials sampling, testing, or inspection, construction inspection, bridge inspection, survey work, utility relocation, roadway programs management, or roadway materials control; and an Associate's Degree in the field of mathematics, statistics, or a civil engineering technology; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
  • This particular position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
