THE POSITION

If so, considering joining the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) as a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Supervisor within our Philadelphia District Office. This position gives you the opportunity to plan, organize, direct, and supervise a unit of Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors engaged in providing services to persons with disabilities. If you have an extensive knowledge and understanding of vocational rehabilitation services, we need you on our team!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor, you will be responsible directing a unit of rehabilitation professionals as they provide services to individuals with disabilities while implementing the operational goals of the VR program through assigning, scheduling, directing, and monitoring unit activities. Work includes assigning referrals to counselors and interns based upon location, specialties, and caseload guidelines as well as assisting counselors and interns with developing referral sources. You will have the opportunity to conduct in-service training sessions and staff conferences to maintain staff awareness of changing concepts in vocational rehabilitation. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Handling grievances and complaints
  • Initiating disciplinary actions for subordinates
  • Reviewing and analyzing case records
  • Coordinating orientation
  • Developing team building concepts
  • Acting as a liaison with public and private organizations to assess and modify the delivery of services

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,250.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor; Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Vision Rehabilitation Therapist; or Orientation and Mobility Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years as a Social Worker 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) in the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation; or
  • Two years of professional experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program; AND possession of an active Certified Rehabilitation Counselor certificate issued by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification; or
  • Two years of professional experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program; AND a master's degree in vocational rehabilitation, mental health, special education, social work, human services, psychology, business administration, human resources, public administration, or a closely related field.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
