Job Summary
The Senior Staff Digital Design Engineer is responsible for the design and verification of logic in pSemi's expanding portfolio of power conversion products. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, experienced digital engineer that can take on the role of either design lead or verification lead. They will collaborate with other members of the digital and analog teams to develop innovative power ICs.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
* Architect the digital design in collaboration with the lead analog designer and the marketing team
* Document the digital design in detail
* Code synthesizable SystemVerilog RTL
* Collaborate on physical-design activities
* Verify timing closure
* Generate ATPG patterns
* Determine requirements and write a design verification (DV) plan
* Construct testbenches for digital verification
* Develop individual test cases and run periodic regression tests
* Debug failing test cases to determine the root cause
* Ensure that the regression tests achieve adequate coverage
* Track issues and work with designers to ensure clean results before tape-out
* Run gate level simulations and check for timing violations\
* Support validation, characterization and test activities leading to manufacturing release
Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
* Typically requires 8 to 12 years of relevant experience depending on education level and experience
* In-depth knowledge and experience with Verilog and SystemVerilog
* Proven ability to develop correct, efficient and testable designs
* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
* Experience with scripting languages, such as Python, Perl or TCL
* Experience with digital design and verification software tools
* Familiarity with Design for Test techniques
* Familiarity with chip-level DV and post-route gate-level simulations
* Experience using Linux/UNIX OS
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience using Cadence software tools (e.g., Xcelium, Genus, Innovus, Tempus, Conformal, Modus)
* Experience modeling analog components
* Experience integrating external IP
* Expertise with UVM-based verification techniques
* Exposure to power management ICs and LED driver ICs
* Exposure to standard serial interfaces such as I2C, SPI or SPMI
* Experience developing firmware for embedded microcontrollers
* Familiarity with Place and Route tools
* Familiarity with AMS simulation tools
Education Requirements
* BS degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. MS degree is preferred
