Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 6 years of related experience. An AA Degree or certification in assigned area preferred.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Sr Adv Material Handling Associate. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Possesses necessary computer skills to locate and manage all required data and may prepare metrics
- May analyze and act on data related to production rates data, review stock records, and prepare purchase orders to determine stock status against production requirements
- Monitors and coordinates picking activities, maintain daily status for project or work area activities, and ensures adherence to scheduling and reporting requirements
- Assists in the development and execution of processes and procedures
- Champions change and act to support change when directed by management
- May coordinate meeting contractual documentation requirements (i.e. DD1149/DD250)
- Identifies material shortages and drives problem solving resolution
- May gather data for internal audits and participate in audit responses
- Actively develops continuous improvement strategies
- Provides new and current training, mentoring and team building
- May act as a team lead for group activities, all cross-functional or Supply Chain communication, and both internal and external customer inquiries including finance and customer property audits
- Sets and works toward team goals and schedule and prioritize work for team members as job requires
- Performs specialized project tasks & assignments of a more complex nature
- Possesses an understanding of configuration management tools as job requires
- May handle and process classified material or oversee storage of Customer Property

- Ability to apply rich knowledge of material planning, control and inventory methodology including BOMs to a wide range of tasks including developing and publishing metrics
- Strong knowledge of scheduling techniques and prioritization methodologies

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written including presentation skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong collaboration skills including ability to run effective meetings
- Strong knowledge of the enterprise software tools and associated data
- Exhibits strong adaptability and flexibility
- Ability to interpret and execute contractual requirements
- Ability to lead a team of peers on multiple or larger programs or efforts
- Ability to readily handle unexpected demands and adapt to new situations
- Exhibits strong work on tasks requiring considerable judgment and initiative, understanding the implications of work and making recommendations for solutions
- Exhibits a strong ability to train new employees, facilitate peer learning, and lead teams in problem solving
Target salary range: USD $28.07/Hr. - USD $30.10/Hr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
