Position Summary
Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs.

The Director for Biostatistical Operations will oversee daily management and operational supervision of the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (NC TraCS) Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design Program (https://tracs.unc.edu/index.php/services/biostatistics). This program supports research investigators at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and partner institutions and contains a biostatistical service that provides biostatistical collaborations, short-term consultations, and statistical methodology support; assistance with grant proposals and protocols including study design, sample size calculations and analysis plans; manuscript preparation and training through seminars. This service also provides regular biostatistical reviews of proposals in the NC TraCS pilot grant program.

The Director for Biostatistical Operations will participate as a Service Biostatistician by directly assisting Investigators with biostatistics requests and pilot grant reviews. In addition, the Director is responsible for evaluating and assigning requests for biostatistical assistance for research projects and tracking progress and outcomes of the requests.

The Director will lead the preparation and execution of semi-annual BERD Program reporting to TraCS Institute Evaluation Team, of BERD's activities and measurable products. The Director will also recruit and onboard new Biostatistics Service members, including training with systems and processes.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience conducting statistical analysis and developing proposal and manuscripts for statistical analysis projects.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Preference will be given to applicants with excellent verbal and written communication skills, supervisory and project management experience, and with a doctoral degree in statistics or biostatistics, or commensurate degree.
