ATR Technical Writing Internship Summer 2025

Reporting to the Business Affairs & Strategic Planning group at the Advance Test Reactor Complex, you will provide support to nuclear reactor documents, engineering, and operations.

You will work with senior editors to learn Microsoft Word track changes and why they are necessary including:

• Understand the functionality and features of the track changes tool in Microsoft Word.
• Learn the importance of using track changes for collaborative editing and maintaining document integrity.
• Practice accepting and rejecting changes, adding comments, and navigating through revisions.

You will also work with senior editors to edit and format technical procedures and forms including

• Review and revise technical documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
• Format documents according to established guidelines and standards.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to verify technical content and ensure completeness.

This team works a 4x10 schedule and works onsite at the Advance Test Reactor next Idaho Falls Idaho. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability.

• Undergraduate students enrolled full time at an accredited college/university studying English or Technical Writing
• A minimum overall 3.0 GPA
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)

Compensation and Benefits:

• Undergraduate Internships ($26.16/hour - $31.47/hour)
• Masters Internships and PhD Internships Pre-Candidacy ($32.87/hour - $35.26/hour)
• PhD Internships Post-Candidacy ($35.95/hour - $38.41/hour)
• Eligible interns are provided paid holiday time off, and many of our internships offer travel reimbursements.
• Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on degree field and level of education.
