We are seeking a Payload Project Manager to join our Commercial Space Team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing information systems that align with business needs. You will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that systems function efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities

The Payload Project Manager will:

    Represent the commercial partner as the primary company point of contact for the payload projects, managing the client project throughout its entire life cycle
  • Support proposal development including task/milestone definition and detailed cost/schedule estimates
  • Develop and document a detailed understanding of the client project including overall requirements, success criteria, and constraints
  • Establish and maintain overall project schedules tracking budgets, key milestones, and deliverables
  • Manage all expectations and communication with the client including organization of regular meetings with client to support project development and execution
  • Organize and lead internal payload progress meetings to support payload development schedules, mitigate potential issues and develop customer friendly solutions
  • Assist clients in defining and providing various payload data sets required by space station and transportation vehicle including developing safety, logistics, verification, and operations documentation
  • Assist clients by participating in major payload integration milestones including but not limited to design reviews, operations reviews, flight and ground safety reviews, verification, and certification reviews
  • Participate in anomaly resolution when on-orbit anomalies occur during real-time ops
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, math, or science Experience performing
  • Payload Integration, preferably for ISS Experience in customer interfacing role Requires the use and understanding of basic engineering mathematics and principles
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work to meet critical schedule requirements in a dynamic environment
  • Highly organized and detail oriented; able to juggle, prioritize, and keep track of multiple tasks and projects
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and take initiative in completing tasks with minimal management direction
  • Must have a "can do" attitude - no job is too big or small, problem solver
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with the NASA Safety Review Panel process and requirements preferred
  • Experience in managing projects of different sizes from start to finish


Qualifications

Essential Functions:
Physical, Environmental, and Mental Demands

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed
