Job Summary

Fishbeck is seeking a motivated Health & Safety Intern to join our team in our Grand Rapids, Michigan headquarters or Novi, MI office. This opportunity allows students to gain hands-on experience in workplace safety, compliance, and risk management while working on a variety of projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Primary Functions

Policy & Training Support:


  • Assist with reviewing and revising health and safety policies.
  • Help organize training sessions and create standardized training materials, including departmental and new employee orientation (NEO) PowerPoints.


Compliance & Risk Management:


  • Follow up on Health & Safety action plan items to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with vendor organization and management.
  • Support H&S site audits to assess safety conditions and adherence to regulations.


Emergency Preparedness & Incident Response:


  • Standardize emergency equipment in each office to ensure consistency.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Assist with incident investigations, if applicable.


Team Collaboration & Engagement:


  • Attend departmental meetings to represent health and safety interests and share relevant information.
  • Participate in Safety Day activities in June to promote awareness and engagement.
  • Assist with collecting and managing departmental health and safety data, including equipment inventory.
  • Input data into the safety management system as needed.


Desired Education

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.

Desired Skills/Experience


  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
