Job Summary and Responsibilities

Summary: An RF Engineer III's main responsibilities are to design, implement, and maintain the radio frequency (RF) components of communication systems. They work closely with other engineers and technicians to ensure that communication systems meet the required specifications for quality, reliability, and performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • RF Design: responsible for designing RF systems and circuits, including radio transmitters, receivers, and antennas, and ensuring they meet the required specifications.
  • Network Planning: planning and optimization of the network design, such as the propagation model, cell size, and antenna type to ensure maximum coverage and
  • Perform complete RF Design for 1st tier RF carrier
  • Search area issuance, candidate assessment, approvals, Macro / Smalls Designs and RF design support for bringing these solutions on-air. Redesign mature network areas to minimize capacity constraints and improve SINR while working with other areas of the network to ensure performance fixes/initiatives are in place
  • AToll experience
  • Fuze experience
  • RoofMaster / IXUS experience
  • Perform Macro/Small Cell Design design including antenna selection and placement, utilizing knowledge of C-band, 5G, LTE, CDMA to contribute in network design
  • Create CIQs, E911 submissions, COPs etc.
  • Work on new cell sites, making sure the site is properly integrated into the network and optimized for peak performance
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deploy and optimize components for best efficiency and reliability

Overall, RF Engineer III is critical to ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of communication systems. Individuals use their technical expertise to design, optimize, and troubleshoot RF systems, while collaborating with other professionals to ensure the success of the overall communication system.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and/or QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required, Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5-7 years of experience in RF design, analysis, and testing is required.
  • Technical Skills: A strong technical background in RF design, analysis, and testing is required. Proficiency in using software tools such as MATLAB, ADS, and HFSS is also required. Experience with network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other RF test equipment is also important.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are needed to effectively work with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and system engineers. Ability to clearly articulate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is necessary.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills are critical, as this role is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex RF design and testing issues.
  • Attention to Detail: must posess a strong attention to detail, as even small design or testing errors can have significant consequences in RF systems.
  • Leadership Skills: may be required to lead small teams of engineers, so leadership skills are a plus.
  • Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) or National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) can be a plus, although not always required.
