Technology Transfer Licensing Agent

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

The Technology Transfer Licensing Agent is responsible for working with the Licensing Officers and Commercialization Officers to manage a portfolio of technologies or inventions created by DHA laboratory personnel and physicians, evaluates the commercial potential of DHA inventions, ensures that DHA inventions are protected (by working with DHA patent attorneys), markets the technologies to companies, works with Licensing/Commercialization Officers to negotiate license and other technology transfer agreements, and assists with Medical Technology Transfer participation at trade shows and exhibits.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Technology Transfer Licensing Agent: $145,000 to $155,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Technology Transfer Licensing Agent Responsibilities Include:

• Perform background and commercial market research on technologies needing a commercial partner.
• Work with inventors, scientists, and laboratory leadership to create a commercialization strategy including list of potential company partners.
• Prepare technology fact sheets or summaries and market DHA technologies using written correspondence, the Medical Technology Transfer website, Techlink, and tradeshows.
• Assist laboratory ORTAs in obtaining new invention disclosures from scientists.
• Draft and assist Licensing/Commercialization Officers in negotiations of license agreements, CRADAs, MTAs.
• Provide commercialization information/strategy for assigned technologies presented during the monthly Invention Evaluation Committee meetings.
• Work with the Compliance Officer to monitor and maintain existing agreements and relationships with commercial partners.
• Update licensing files on MTT shared drive as well as the Intellectual Property database, Anaqua.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Technology Transfer Licensing Agent Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

• Masters or Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or other biotechnology-related field.
• 5-10 years academic technology transfer experience.
• Undergraduate degree in biological science or medical science.
• Assessing the commercial potential of new technologies and developing strategies to promote them.
• Understanding the business aspects of technology transfer, including licensing agreements, patents, and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of intellectual property law and regulations related to technology transfer.
• Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Technology Licensing Officer, Technology Manager, or Intellectual Property Manager.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
