Digital Forensic Analyst

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active DOE Q clearance or the ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance to be considered.

We are seeking a Digital Forensic Analyst to join our Security Operations Center (SOC) Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) team. This role involves working in a 24x7 environment, with a regular weekday day shift unless incidents require off-hours work. The position requires collaboration with security teams, administrators, engineers, and clients in a Nuclear Security Enterprise environment. The analyst will be responsible for forensically extracting, analyzing, and assisting in investigations of digital evidence.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Digital Forensic Analyst: $115,000 to $135,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Digital Forensic Analyst Responsibilities Include:



  • Extract and analyze data from digital sources while preserving forensic integrity.
  • Adhere to industry best practices for handling electronic evidence.
  • Use advanced techniques such as file carving, time-stamp analysis, and network traffic analysis.
  • Perform forensic analysis using industry-standard tools to identify digital evidence and support incident response investigations.
  • Recover deleted or damaged data and identify relevant evidence such as browsing history, email communications, and system logs.
  • Reconstruct events leading to cyberattacks and identify security vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain the chain of custody and comply with legal procedures and data privacy laws.
  • Write detailed reports on forensic findings and investigative processes.
  • Travel up to 10% for occasional meetings and trainings.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned



Digital Forensic Analyst Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • Expertise in digital forensics tools and techniques.
  • Experience with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#).
  • Strong knowledge of computer networks, protocols, and OS file systems (Windows, Linux).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of legal processes and the ability to testify in court if necessary.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field, or 4 years of relevant IT experience.
  • 5 years of cybersecurity experience.
  • Availability for periodic on-call, emergency, and incident response work.
  • Relevant certifications such as GCFE, CDFE, CISSP, OSCP, or similar are highly desired.
  • Certification in compliance with NIST NICE 800-181 Basic required within 6 months.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
